TripIt alternatives: the apps worth trying, and who they suit

TripIt alternatives: Travary postcard artTravi, the Travary suitcase

The short answer

The main TripIt alternatives are Wanderlog, for planning and mapping a trip with others; Tripsy, a polished planner for Apple devices; Travary, built around each day of a holiday with tickets offline and family sharing on iPhone and Android; and your phone's own wallet for boarding passes. Which is best depends on why you're leaving TripIt: price, email access, design, or a trip that's more holiday than business.

Disclosure: we make Travary. We've compared the other apps fairly, from their own listings and recent independent reviews checked in October 2026. Features and prices change; check before you subscribe.

Is TripIt worth it?

For many people, yes. TripIt's free version turns forwarded booking emails into a tidy itinerary, syncs with your calendar, works offline and can be shared. Pro, at about US$49 a year, mainly adds real-time flight alerts and help when flights change. If you fly often for work, that's good value.

People usually look for an alternative for one of four reasons:

  • It's built for business travel. Holidays, especially family ones, are more about each day's plan than about flights and loyalty points.
  • It runs on email. Forwarding confirmations, or giving an app access to your inbox, isn't for everyone.
  • The look. It's functional rather than something you look forward to opening.
  • The price of Pro, if flight alerts aren't what you need.

The alternatives

Wanderlog: for planning a trip together

Wanderlog shines before the trip: researching places, pinning them on a map, ordering them into days, with friends editing alongside you. Collaboration is free. Offline access, Gmail scanning and route optimisation are in Pro (around US$40 a year). Choose it if you're planning a multi-city or road trip with others.

Tripsy: for an all-Apple household

Tripsy is a carefully designed planner that runs across iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. There's no Android version yet. Much of it is in Pro. Choose it if everyone you travel with uses Apple devices.

Travary: for the holiday itself

Our app. Add bookings by typing them in or from a screenshot or PDF, and Travary sorts them into days and trips by their dates: no trip to set up, no email forwarding. It opens each morning on that day's plan with the next ticket ready, counts down to the next trip on a postcard from the destination, spots nights without a stay, and keeps a shared "Before you go" checklist. Passports stay on your phone, behind Face ID. Free for your own trips, with a one-off Holiday Pass ($14.99) or Annual Pass ($34.99 a year) for family sharing. Choose it if you're organising a holiday, especially with family on a mix of iPhone and Android. It doesn't have real-time flight alerts yet.

Your phone's wallet: for boarding passes

Apple Wallet and Google Wallet hold boarding passes and many tickets, offline, for free. They don't make an itinerary, but if all you used TripIt for was the boarding pass, you may not need an app at all.

Switching without losing anything

  1. Start with the next trip

There's no need to move your history. Add the upcoming trip's bookings to the new app and run both until you're happy.

  2. Find the confirmations

Your original booking emails and PDFs are the source of truth, not the old app. Search your inbox for "confirmation" and "e-ticket".

  3. Re-add the boarding passes

Put them in your phone's wallet as well, as a backup that needs no app.

Questions people ask

Is TripIt free?

Yes, TripIt has a free version that builds an itinerary from forwarded booking emails, syncs with your calendar and works offline. TripIt Pro, at about US$49 a year, adds real-time flight alerts and other extras.

What app is like TripIt?

Wanderlog, Tripsy and Travary are the closest alternatives. Wanderlog is stronger for planning with a map, Tripsy is a polished Apple-only planner, and Travary is built around each day of a holiday with tickets offline.

Is TripIt or Wanderlog better?

TripIt is better at organising bookings that arrive by email and, with Pro, at flight alerts. Wanderlog is better at researching and mapping a trip with others. Many people use one before the trip and another during it.

Is there a TripIt alternative for Android?

Yes. Wanderlog and Travary both work on Android as well as iPhone. Tripsy is currently Apple-only.
